Bundesliga Continued, Revierderby Becoming the Opening Game

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The 2019-2020 Bundesliga season will officially resume starting from May 16th. The match between Borussia Dortmund against FC Schalke entitled Revierderby was chosen to be the opening match.

The Bundesliga was initially rumored to be continuing the competition on May 15. But the plan was turned back one day.

That certainty was announced by DFL as the Bundesliga operator. As is known, the highest caste competition in Germany has been suspended since last March 13th.

“After yesterday the DFL decided to continue the season after May 15th, we finally decided to hold a Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 on May 16th. This season will start again on week 26, followed by other matches,” the official DFL statement said.

“The plan, Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will be completed on 27th or June 28th.”

The Dortmund duel against Schalke became one of the five opening matches held simultaneously. The match will be held at 15:30 local time.

This match is certainly very important for Dortmund. They need a victory to shorten the distance with Bayern Munich at the top of the standings.

A number of strict protocols will be applied DFL in order to maintain the safety and health of all parties, especially players. One of them is a match held in private.

The Bundesliga will be the first European elite league to continue competition amid the corona virus pandemic. They refused to follow the steps of the Eredivisie and Ligue 1 who stopped the competition.

The steps taken by the Bundesliga can certainly be an example for other competitions such as LaLiga, Premier League, or Serie A. The three European competition is still unable to determine the continuation of the 2019-2020 season.
