Covid-19 Outbreak, Liverpool should be Crowned As Champions
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, insists that Liverpool deserves to be crowned champions if the 2019/20 Premier League season is not resumed due to the corona virus global pandemic (COVID-19).
The 25-point advantage practically made Liverpool need only six points to ensure the championship and that according to Gundogan is more than enough reason to hand over the trophy to the Reds.
“For me, that is the right thing, of course,” Gundogan stated. “As an athlete you have to show sportsmanship.”
In addition to being the champions, according to Gundogan there are many complicated things that must be determined if in the end the authority decides not to continue the competition.
“There are many options. For a club that has achieved results so far, it’s certainly unfair if the competition is canceled,” he added.
“On the other hand, for clubs that are struggling or those who are in danger of relegation, canceling the competition certainly sounds sweet,” continued Gundogan.
The Premier League is currently suspended like many other sporting competitions in the world. The operators and FA have so far agreed that the 2019-20 season is to resumed no sooner than April 30.
