Cristiano Ronaldo Believed to Overtake Pele’s Record after Scoring 700 goals
By db-admin
DBasia.news – After scoring his 700th goal in his football career, Cristiano Ronaldo is believed by Jorge Mendes to be someone who can surpass Pele’s record. Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent stated that the performance shown by Ronaldo when he scored his 700th goal was still not optimal and he could still show his best performance.
Ronaldo, 34, recently made his name in the history of world football through his goal against Ukraine in the continued qualification for the 2020 European Cup. Although Portugal lost 1-2, Ronaldo’s goal became the 700th goal of his career.
There are only five world football legends that have 700 or more goals above Ronaldo, namely: Josef Biscan (805 goals), Pele (779 goals), Romario (748 goals), Ferenc Puskas (709 goals), and Gerd Muller (709 goals) 701 goals).
Still in top form despite being 34 years old, Mendes believes Ronaldo can still score more goals, even exceeding Pele’s record goals (779 goals) – meaning Ronaldo needs 79 more goals.
His figures (statistics) do not lie and confirm Cristiano Ronaldo’s great way of breaking records, which lifted him into the best player category in football history, with a big difference compared to the two (best) for everything achieved by the different clubs he represented, “either in England, Spain or now in Italy, with the Portugal national team,” Mendes said.
“The fact is that with Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal has played in three finals and won two of them (European Cup 2016 and UEFA Nations League 2019). Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a fantastic 700 goals, but I have no doubt, he will pass Pele as a goal scorer for most goals in football history and he will do it with Juventus,” he explained to Tuttosport.
Ronaldo often scores 20-30 goals each season in all competitions when strengthening Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. The sharpness is believed by Mendes to continue in the future. Mendes also believes the best performance of the five Ballon d’Or winner has yet to appear.
“After all, 68 goals is not too much for Cristiano Ronaldo, right? I’m also sure the best has yet to appear (from Ronaldo),” concluded Mendes.
