Defeat Atletico Madrid, Hans Dieter Flick Praises Bayern Munchen’s Efficiency
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Bayern Munich started their inaugural match in Group A of the Champions League this season perfectly. The defending champions beat Atletico Madrid 4-0 at the Allianz Arena, Thursday (22/10). For this victory, the manager, Hans Dieter Flick, praised the efficiency of his team.
In this match Atletico were completely unable to match Munich, who took control of the game from the start. Die Bayern have never let their opponents pose a threat.
“Our game was good tonight. It was a tough task but we mastered it. Our efficiency was good today and I am very satisfied. It was very important to win that first game,” Flick told reporters.
Bayern won the Champions League title in August by beating Paris Saint-Germain. That’s one of the five trophies they won in 2020. With a short pre-season preparation, Munich is still strong.
Flick said his players were fighting for every ball against Atletico. The Munich players are physically qualified to beat Atletico.
“It was important, to be there, to win that one-on-one situation. We had a match plan and we implemented it, got four beautiful goals. We can be satisfied with that and that’s the most important thing. We really want to win the first game today,” concluded Flick.
Bayern Munich have now won the last 12 matches in a row in the Champions League, winning through Kingsley Coman twice and from Corentin Tolisso and Leon Goretzka respectively.
