Defeated Arsenal, Pep Guardiola Satisfied with His Squad’s Performance
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he was happy with the performance of his team when they defeated Arsenal 3-0 in the continued Premiere League at Etihad Stadium on Thursday (6/18).
The former Barcelona manager admitted he was satisfied with the performance of team in the match. Moreover, this match was The Citizen’s first match after a two-month break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In general, after two months of vacuum, you never know the state of mentality and how this team feels. However, we performed quite well against a strong opponent,” Guardiola said as quoted on the club’s official website on Thursday (6/18).
Unfortunately, City’s victory in this match was slightly tarnished by the injury suffered by Eric Garcia. The Spanish central defender had collided with his teammate, Ederson, while trying to cut off one of Arsenal’s player pass.
In fact, the 19-year-old defender had been unconscious and was referred to the nearest hospital to get further treatment. Guadiola also revealed the current conditions for the U-21 Spanish national team.
“Of course, we are worried about his condition. At this moment, he has regained consciousness. However, we will continue to evaluate his condition, because a kick to the head will always be bad. Apparently, he will stay for one or two nights in the hospital. We will make sure he is fine,” he concluded.
