DBasia.news – The 3-0 victory over hosts, AS Monaco, Tuesday (17/12) local time, succeeded in bringing Lille to the quarter-finals of the French League Cup.
Christophe Galtier’s players opened the scoring at the Stade Louis II, Monaco, in the 19th minute. Victor Osimhen chased a breakthrough bait sent by Jonathan Ikone, and opened fire without being able to be stopped by goalkeeper, Danijel Subasic.
The attacker must then be replaced by Loic Remy after celebrating. He had to undergo an examination as he felt dizzy.
The ongoing onslaught was done by Lille through Renato Sanches, Remy, and Jonathan Ikone. The second goal that was expected was finally created in the 45th minute. There was chaos in the Monaco defense between Benoit Badiashile and Guilermo Maripan, and Remy was able to take advantage of the situation to double the advantage of his team.
Monaco had the opportunity to quickly catch up at the start of the second half, when Adama Soumaoro’s hand hit the ball in the forbidden box. Unfortunately Slimani’s penalty execution failed to achieve results.
Lille increased the pressure throughout the rest of the game, and they were able to package their third goal in the 86th minute through the efforts of Remy.
In another French League Cup match, the Stade de Reims recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over guest, Montpellier. The only goal in the match was scored by Mathieu Cafaro through a penalty execution in the 78th minute. A win which also resulted in a quarterfinal ticket for Reims.
