Defeated by Manchester City, David Luiz Admits Himself as Arsenal’s Culprit of Defeat

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Arsenal could not bear when defeated by Manchester City with a score of 0-3, Thursday (6/18). David Luiz claimed his team’s defeat was his mistake who had to get a red card in the 49th minute.

Luiz, whose contract at Arsenal will expire at the end of this month, was signed as a substitute in the 24th minute to replace the injured Pablo Mari.

The central defender made a mistake that led to Raheem Sterling’s opening goal and then made another foul which resulted in a penalty which became City’s second goal in the first four minutes of the second half.

Not only did his doing created goals for the opponent, a red card for him after tackling Riyad Mahrez also made his team one-player deficit for the rest of the match.

“This is my mistake, the team has played well, especially with 10 players. The coach has been outstanding, all the players are extraordinary, this is my fault,” Luiz said.

Luiz said his contract situation should have been resolved but he refused the status of his contract to be the factor of his poor performance.

“I had to make a different decision in the last two months but apparently not,” he told Sky Sports.

“Everything is about my contract, whether I stay here or not. I have 14 days to be here and that. I should have decided my future as early as possible, but in fact it was not.”

“I don’t want to use that as an alibi or an excuse, it’s my fault, that’s all. I’m happy here. That’s why I keep training hard.”

The Gunners manager Mikel Arteta said Luiz was resigned and insisted his performance would not have an impact on any decision regarding his future.

“I don’t know what will happen to his contract. I know what happened today, I know how David reacts, as a player and as a human being, he can handle this situation,” he said.
