Diego Simeone is Positive for Covid-19

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone has tested positive for the corona virus. However, Atletico players are still training in two separate groups.

Two groups of players who continued training today, came separately to Atleti’s training camp in Ciudad Deportiva, after positive cases have now started to affect some of the coaching staff.

Simeone was the last victim of exposure after he found that his PCR test had tested positive. Atletico are also trying to move faster in preventing the spread of the pandemic in their club.

Today, Koke, Saul, Thomas Partey, Jose Gimenez, Yannick Carrasco and Vitolo were the first to train. The second group of Atleti players was then filled by Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata, Stefan Savic, Felipe, Sime Vrsaljko, Thomas Lemar, Victor Mollejo and Renan Lodi. This was stated by Marca.

Meanwhile Santiago Arias and Diego Costa must continue their training at home, as they have previously been tested positive as well. They have to wait for the PCR test results until they receive negative results to be able to rejoin their colleagues at Atletico Madrid.

The Daily Mail added, Atletico’s pre-season training plan fell apart after one by one several Los Rojiblancos players were exposed to the corona virus. Until finally, the club immediately suspended the plan.

Simeone’s squad was originally preparing for the new season at San Rafael, as usual. However, they must immediately return to Madrid for further tests.

A member of the club, who is neither from the players nor the coaching staff, has tested positive again after a mandatory medical examination held at the team hotel on Thursday (10/9) local time.

The person is then required to undergo independent isolation for 14 days, and the remaining members of the Atletico Madrid group must also have a clean health status from exposure to the corona virus.

It was later claimed that the member of the group who tested positive was likely to have contracted the outbreak from their family environment, and not because they had attended a training camp. But the players were then ordered to remain at the training camp until their final training session which took place on Saturday morning.

Atletico actually have a scheduled a friendly match against Cadiz on Wednesday (16/9). However, the match which would be held at the Estadio Ramon de Carranza would most likely be eliminated.

Meanwhile, the opening match of the season which was supposed to be played by Atletico Madrid against Granada on September 27, 2020, currently has the status of TBD, aka “undecided”. Likewise with the away match at Huesca headquarters and the home match against Villarreal, now both are likely to be postponed until a further decision is made.
