Difficult Period Ends, Olympique Marseille Bends Strasbourg

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Marseille’s difficult time in winning in four matches finally over after defeating Strasbourg, who visited the Velodrome Stadium on Sunday (10/20) local time. In the tenth week of the French League, Marseille won 2-0 with Strasbourg.

Boubacar Kamara’s goal, followed by Kevin Strootman’s penalty, ensured the team from Andres Villas-Boas were back on track, the French league’s official website notes.

Thanks to the victory Marseille jumped to fourth place in the standings with 16 points, while Strasbourg (9) fell into a caretaker.

The game was fairly balanced throughout the match but Marseille managed to use two of the six shots on target to be a goal, while Strasbourg had difficulty finding sharpness on the front lines.

Three minutes after football started, Marseille managed to excel quickly through Kamara’s right-foot shot which helped his team attack in a free-kick situation.

Marseille almost doubled their lead in the 11th minute but Dario Benedetto’s header welcomed Maxime Lopez’s cross to secure goalkeeper Matz Sels.

In contrast, Strasbourg’s equalizer was thwarted by goalkeeper Steve Mandanda when he stopped Adrien Thomasson’s shot.

Marseille excellence lasted until halftime and in the 55th minute the host again got a chance through a shot Nemanja Radonjiv still hit the crossbar.

Strasbourg’s hard work pounding the Marseille defense never paid off and ironically in the third minute of injury time, Mohamed Simakan even tripped Benedetto in the penalty box.

The penalty shot was executed by Strootman into the lower right corner of the goal to ensure Marseille’s 2-0 victory over Strasbourg.
