Strasbourg Conquers Montpellier, AS Saint-Etienne Ends the Negative Period

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Strasbourg successfully conquered Montpellier with a thin score of 1-0 when competing at the Nimes headquarters at the Stadium des Contieres. Meanwhile, AS Saint-Etienne won. These results officially ended a row of disappointing results in the eighth match of the French League on Sunday (29/9).

The only goal scored by Mathieu Debuchy through his header welcomed Wahbi Khazri’s corner kick in the 68th minute to determine the victory of Saint-Etienne.

Although six minutes after the goal Saint-Etienne had to finish the match with 10 players as Romain Hamouma received a second yellow card, the team made by Ghislain Printant successfully defended their lead until the fight was over.

The result has now made Saint-Etienne collect eight points and return to the bottom of the standings which they had occupied for almost 24 hours following the inaugural victory of Dijon (5). While Nimes (8) is stuck in 15th place.

In another match which took place two hours earlier at the Stadio de la Meinau, the host Strasbourg managed to overcome Montpellier 1-0.

The header goal also determined Strasbourg’s victory over Montpellier scored by Ludovic Ajorque in the 25th minute goring Alexander Djiku’s cross bait.

An additional three points succeeded in lifting Strasbourg’s position up to 13th place with nine points, three strips below Montpellier (11).
