Emotional, Luis Suarez Cried When Saying Farewell with Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Uruguay striker Luis Suarez could not help but cry when he said goodbye to Barcelona. Suarez admitted that he was lucky to have been part of the Blaugrana.
Luis Suarez headed to Barcelona in 2014 after leaving Liverpool. During his six years at Camp Nou, the 33-year-old striker scored 198 goals in 283 games.
Suarez helped Barcelona win various titles such as the Champions League, LaLiga, Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
However, this impressive record was not enough to hold Suarez at Barcelona any longer. He was not included in Ronald Koeman’s plans.
While trying to hold back the emotion, Luis Suarez revealed a message of separation to Barcelona.
“What a surprise. I didn’t prepare anything,” said the striker in a video released by Barcelona.
“I want to say the club has really believed in me since recruiting in 2014. I came in a condition with an error (biting Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup),” continued Suarez.
“However, the trust they have always given me. It’s not easy to accept that.”
Luis Suarez did not forget to thank his coaches and team-mates. Suarez felt very welcome.
“I realize that we are at the end of an era and I should be proud of what I have done. I left a lot of friends here.”
“Thank you to my family who have endured and lived everything. I really enjoyed the beautiful moments with them and they gave me encouragement when I was down.”
“Hopefully my kids will see me lift the trophy and score goals. Hopefully they see me next to the best in history,” said Suarez, holding back emotion.
Luis Suarez chose to leave for Barcelona’s domestic rivals, Atletico Madrid. Barcelona get 6 million euros for the transfer.
