Failed to Qualify for Champions League Final, Julian Nagelsmann Admits Leipzig Lost Class to PSG
By db-admin
DBasia.news – RB Leipzig manager, Julian Nagelsmann, was reluctant to look for many reasons after losing to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the 2019-2020 Champions League semifinals. He admitted that his squad lost class to the opponent.
In the match that took place at the Estadio da Luz, Wednesday (19/8) in the morning WIB, RB lost by a landslide score of 0-3. Les Parisiens’ winning goals were scored by Marquinhos, Angel Di Maria and Juan Bernat.
PSG and Leipzig are actually not regular teams to appear in the Champions League semifinals. But from the player’s material, the French representative is clearly more classy and experienced.
But Nagelsmann admitted Leipzig started the match well. Yussuf Poulsen and friends were able to create a number of opportunities.
Unfortunately they were missed by Marquinhos’ goal through a set piece scheme. Nagelsmann regretted this because it changed the course of the match.
“It’s difficult to get back into the game because PSG have very good quality. In the end, they are the better team and a ticket to the final for PSG is deserved,” Nagelsmann told BT Sport.
Leipzig is one of the dark horses in the Champions League this season. They are even a club that is only young as they were founded in 2014.
This season’s failure is considered a valuable experience for Nagelsmann. He will try to carve an even better achievement next season.
“In the end, it’s not easy to think about the good season we did in the Champions League. We will try to do it again in the next season,” he added.
Leipzig will indeed return to appear in the Champions League next season. Die Bullen finished third in the 2019-2020 Bundesliga.
