Fernando Santos Praise Cristiano Ronaldo
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Four goals, aka quat-tricks, were inscribed by Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo when Portugal played against Lithuania in the continued qualification for the 2022 World Cup on Wednesday (9/11) early morning Western Indonesian Time.
Portugal won 5-1 through four goals by Ronaldo and one by William Carvalho, while another was scored by Vytautas Andriuskevicius. Ronaldo has now scored 93 goals in 160 matches with Portugal which he has defended since 2003.
Fernando Santos, Portugal national team coach, is at a loss for words to praise Ronaldo. Four goals were used as benchmarks for him to judge Ronaldo as the world’s best player.
“This (four goals) is clear and indisputable proof that he (Ronaldo) is the best player in the world. There are no stadiums around the world that do not give him a hand (appreciation). He is the best player in the world,” Santos said, quoted by Goal.
“We went to Paris in my first match and the hotel in France was across the street. There were thousands of people outside waiting. I thought it was strange when he didn’t score. They said this was closing … there was no closing. You have to be careful because this will never end.”
Ronaldo also carved the record as top scorer of all-time European Cup Qualification. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star scored 24 goals in the European Cup Qualifiers.
At the age of 34, there are no signs that Ronaldo is showing a decline in performance. Ronaldo is currently only 16 goals adrift of the record number of international goals occupied by Iranian legend, Ali Daei, who has scored 109 goals.
