FSG weren’t the cause of Liverpool’s problems

DBasia.news – Liverpool still haven’t managed to escape from their negative period either. They had to lose 0-3 when they met Wolverhampton Wanderers and were further away from the European zone in the Premier League.

The defeat further exacerbated Liverpool’s situation after losing twice to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League and FA Cup. The bad situation for Liverpool is currently different from last season, where they fought for four trophies.

Many theories emerged from Liverpool’s downturn from psychological problems from last season’s failure, mental fatigue, to an aging squad and no longer able to follow Jurgen Klopp’s style of football.

Fans also blame FSG as the owner of Liverpool for not investing in purchasing players in January in the positions needed. Instead of doing so, Liverpool actually recruited Cody Gakpo when the club needed additional players in the back and midfield.

But Jamie Carragher, Liverpool legend and football pundit, sees Liverpool’s current problems are not the fault of FSG but staff, players and player recruitment after Michael Edwards left Liverpool.

“It feels like there are so many areas that are not right at Liverpool. Some of them are on the pitch and some off the field,” explained Carragher as quoted by Dailymail.

“I said this a few days ago. A lot of supporters, I think, took the easy option. Starting with Brentford, Brighton twice and then Wolves, it’s not losing to those teams, it’s the way it is.”

“It was probably the worst three away defeats, not only under Klopp but in Premier League history to Liverpool. Losing badly. They didn’t just lose, they were completely battered. It could have been 0-5 to Wolves yesterday.”

“Brighton’s game should be worse. They didn’t just lose to these teams by a freak goal, they were literally wiped off the floor.”

“A lot of people look at possession. What happened at the moment, I don’t blame FSG one bit for it. I don’t. I’m going to be criticized now by certain sections of the crowd for being a defender of possession. I don’t have a job at Liverpool.”

Liverpool staff, in this case the player recruitment department, became the target of Carragher’s criticism by citing the club’s failure to recruit Aurelien Tchouameni who eventually joined Real Madrid from AS Monaco.

“But you have to look at it properly and say this, for me, is down to the staff and the players and the recruitment team. The reason I came back to the recruitment team is because for the last four or five years, everyone has used Liverpool as a model for everyone to follow. this country and Europe,” Carragher added.

“Buy low, sell high. And people say they haven’t put in enough money.”

“But what Liverpool are really good at is selling and bringing in money to allow them to go and spend £75 million on centre-back, £60 million on goalkeeper, £50 million, uniquely for Naby Keita. But now, they are at the end of the season then and the staff, there’s money there for the midfield players.”

“They are trying to buy a player who went to Real Madrid (Aurelien Tchouameni) so it’s £60-70 million there for a midfield player.

“They can’t obtain him and Jurgen Klopp and his staff, or the recruitment team to decide ‘We don’t need to buy a midfielder’.”

“It’s on them, and then they come into the season and since day one against Fulham they haven’t been able to cope with the intensity of a Premier League game and they’ve literally been crushed in every game they’ve played.”
