Gabriel Jesus is Glad John Stones Recovers from Injury
By db-admin
DBasia.news – John Stones, the Manchester City defender, has recovered from injury. His teammate, Gabriel Jesus, welcomed the positive news.
Stones has returned to training after suffering a muscle injury that forced him to pull over for almost four weeks. The Stones’ return is certainly additional ammunition for Manchester City who is facing a defensive crisis.
Stones was hit by a muscle injury ahead of the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk, mid-September. Stones injury at that time was bad news for Manchester City because before they had also lost Aymeric Laporte.
The collapse of Stones and Laporte due to injury forced Pep Guardiola as the tactician of The Citizens to play Fernandinho as a central defender. The Brazilian defensive midfielder was asked to play with Nicolas Otamendi at the back of Manchester City in recent matches.
“It’s difficult because we don’t have the right number of players to defend. We only have Nico and Fernandinho, who do a good job, but not real defenders,” Jesus said at Soccerway.
“The return of John will help us a lot. He is a great player. When you have a very good player, you can place him anywhere on the field and he will do a good job.”
“That’s what Fernandinho did. Worked to support the team, played very well and helped us a lot. You can see he is a very experienced player and very good at what he does,” Jesus added.
