Gattuso Says Napoli is Suffering

DBasia.news –  Napoli’s new coach, Gennaro Gattuso, stated that his squad was suffering, after being defeated by guest, Parma, 1-2 in the Italian League match at the Stadio San Paolo.

“This team is suffering on a psychological level, as Napoli are not used to playing a series of defeats in the Italian League. These players are accustomed to competing at the top of the board, so they had difficulty adapting,” Gattuso said.

Napoli have currently been defeated in eight matches, which leaves them in eighth position in the Italian League.

The match against Parma was his debut as Napoli coach, after the club sacked Carlo Ancelotti on Wednesday.

“I will be responsible and ready to be blamed for this defeat. Naturally the fans will condemn it, as the results were not as they expected,” he added.

In addition to defeats, Gattuso’s debut in the Napoli hot seat was also marred by the injury of their central defender, Kalidou Koulibaly, in the first half. His position was then replaced by young player, Sebastiano Luperto.

In his statement, Napoli said that the initial diagnosis to Koulibaly stated that he was suspected of suffering from an injury to his right thigh femoral bicep.
