Gennaro Gattuso Dedicated Napoli’s Breakthrough for his Sister

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Napoli coach, Gennaro Gattuso presented Il Partenopei’s breakthrough in the Coppa Italia final to his late sister, Francesca.

Francesca died at the age of 37 on June 2. She suffered from a rare disease that required her to be treated in an intensive care unit (ICU) since last February.

Napoli was able to draw with Inter Milan with a score of 1-1 in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final at the Stadio San Paolo, Sunday (6/14) AM.

Napoli were left behind since the second minute through Christian Eriksen’s goal via a free kick. Even so, they were able to equalize the score in the 41st minute through a fast counterattack scheme that was completed by Dries Mertens.

The 122nd Mertens goal for Napoli at the same time made it past Marek Hamsik’s record (121) as the club’s all-time top scorer.

With these results, Napoli are entitled to qualify for the finals with a 2-1 aggregate victory. At the first meeting, The Blue defeated Inter 1-0 at San Siro in March.

“I dedicate this result to my sister and family,” Gattuso said on the club’s official website, after the match.

“The players appeared amazingly with the totality they provide on the pitch. I thank them as they mean everything to me and they are getting closer [to the championship]. “

“I have a team with great quality, but there is the potential for difficulties because not all mechanisms are going well. After conceding a naive goal, it’s not easy for us to get up.”

“We showed character and I must say that we started the intensity from the training camp. We went through difficult times, it was not even easy to practice in a health emergency,” he added.

In the final round, Napoli will challenge the tournament’s most successful team, Juventus, at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday (6/18) 2:00 AM WIB.
