Giada Greggi is Impatient to Debut with Italy
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Giada Greggi can adapt quickly with the national team. The Roma midfielder admitted he hoped to make his debut with Italy in the next few years.
The 20-year-old midfielder received his first call for the Azzurre last month, for upcoming matches against Malta and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
In addition to acknowledging that the call to represent his country is a dream come true, Greggi hopes he gets a chance to show off in these two matches.
“A pleasant atmosphere here, all the players and coaches helped me,” Greggi told Roma TV.
“I feel comfortable. I look forward to making my debut – I will do everything I can to contribute to the team.”
The call to the national team surprised Greggi – even though he was surrounded by his team-mates when Roma’s coach, Betty Bavagnoli, delivered the good news.
“I did not expect to accept this call and I was between the players and the coach and I heard that,” Greggi said.
“I was speechless, there were no words to describe my feelings at the time. But the best thing was that I was with my teammates and everyone hugged me and congratulated me.”
Speaking earlier this week, Italy coach, Milena Bertolini, acknowledged that Greggi was a player who had been on the radar for a long time.
“He is a player that we have been following for some time now,” Bertolini said. “When I was in Brescia, I wanted to recruit him to the club.”
“He is only 16 years old and has made his debut in Serie A. He is young but he has a lot of experience and more than that he has the quality, tenacity, and energy.”
“Giada is a brilliant talent, he plays for all categories of young Italian teams and in the first two games of the season, he played well.”
