Guardiola Praises Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne’s Performance
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne for the match against Newcastle United. Both players were the heroes of City’s victory over the Magpies as well as locking one ticket to the FA Cup semifinals this season.
Manchester City managed to secure one ticket to the FA Cup semifinals this season after winning 2-0 over Newcastle United at St James Park on Monday (6/29).
The Cityzens’ victory in the match was inseparable from the role of De Bruyne who managed to score a goal through a penalty execution in the 37th minute and a beautiful goal scored by Sterling in the 68th minute.
Shortly after the match was over, Guardiola did not forget to praise his two flagship players. The manager said Sterling had scored a fantastic goal while De Bruyne claimed he was a player who could be counted on to be a penalty executioner.
“Raheem scored a fantastic goal,” Guardiola said.
“Regarding the penalty, I did not see the replay. But when Gabriel Jesus was controlling the ball, the opposing player had indeed pushed him.”
“De Bruyne can certainly be relied on [to become a penalty executioner] and hopefully he can continue his duties well because in this season we can take advantage of the opportunities of these conditions.”
“I think in this fight we have lost five or six penalties. But certainly Kevin is now responsible for doing the task. He has personality, confidence and that is important to us,” he concluded.
