Held by The Foxes, Riyad Mahrez Is Upset Failing to go to Arsenal

DBasia.news –  Gundogan: Hopefully Lionel Messi is Still Long Hanging Shoes Last 2016, Leicester City refused to sell Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez. Mahrez claimed he was still upset with The Foxes until now.

Mahrez appeared impressive with Leicester in the 2015-2016 season. He managed to score 18 goals in 39 matches in all competitions.

Thanks to his contribution, The Foxes won the Premier League for the first time. Leicester entrenched at the top of the standings with a value of 81, winning 10 points over Arsenal in second place.

Mahrez’s brilliant performance made several big European clubs smitten to ask for his hand in the summer of 2016, one of which was Arsenal. However, Leicester did not want to let go of the Algerian player.

“After winning with Leicester, if I went to the top team, it wouldn’t be the same story. For me, it’s clear that I lost two years at the highest level. I lost two years! Because instead of arriving at City at the age of 27, I could be there at 24, 25 years,” Mahrez said at Soccerway.

“Leicester blocked my move. They told me: ‘You will not go, you will not go’. “My agent has spoken with Arsene Wenger who really wants me. That was almost all done with Arsenal in 2016. I was really frustrated.”

“It’s not easy to switch from being the best player in the Premier League to being part of a team that is struggling against relegation. That’s not the same job. Everyone is waiting for you at the corner,” Mahrez added.
