Jadon Sancho doesn’t deserve to be in the England national team

DBasia.news – England coach Gareth Southgate admits Manchester United striker Jadon Sancho does not deserve to strengthen his team after what has been shown in recent weeks. However, Southgate had other reasons behind Sancho’s entry.

Gareth Southgate released a list of players who will strengthen the England national team in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary. Interestingly, Southgate still called for Jadon Sancho who has been sluggish at Manchester United.

Since joining the Red Devils, Sancho has not shown the performance as expected. In fact, Man United spent 85 million euros to sign the 21-year-old player.

Inevitably, Southgate’s decision invites controversy. Moreover, another player, Mason Greenwood, who was considered more worthy of strengthening England was not called up.

However, Southgate has reasons to still believe in Jadon Sancho. The coach believes that what Sancho is experiencing is an adaptation process.

“Does he deserve to be in the national team with the performances over the last few weeks? Yes, maybe not. However, I think we have invested in Sancho over a period of time and believe he can reach the highest level,” Southgate said as reported by the Mirror.

“I’d like to have the opportunity to speak to him and help with the adaptation process at Man United. I think it’s important for him to feel we have faith in him. Right now, that’s a good message.”

“The Bundesliga is very different. Dortmund is a big team, but Manchester United is one of the biggest in the world,” explained the coach.

“There will be adaptations to it. There will be adaptations for the league. You won’t have the number of goals and assists here like in the Bundesliga.”

In addition to Sancho’s entry, the choice of the Three Lions players also caused debate for not calling up Jude Bellingham. In fact, the midfielder is in topnotch performance with Borussia Dortmund.
