Jokowi: I’m Optimist U16 National Team Will Make Indonesia Proud

DBasia.news – The U16 national team along with Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Imam Nahrawi came to meet the Indonesia President Joko Widodo in the Presidential Palace, Thursday (4/10).

The arrival of the U16 national team is the gesture of appreciation from Indonesia government for their performance in the Garuda Asia squad in 2018 U16 Asian Cup.

As we know, the U16 national team failed to qualify for the 2019 U17 World Cup in Peru. It’s confirmed after the U16 national team got defeated 2-3 in the U16 Australia in the quarter-final of 2018 U16 Asian Cup at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, October 1.

However, the performance of the U16 national team was great. They could defeat the U16 Iran 2-0 in the Group C qualification and made it difficult for the U16 Australia.

“I thought we will win, but we need to fight. There are still plenty opportunities to make the national team as our pride,” Jokowi told the U16 players and reporters.

“I’m optimist the U16 national team will make this nation proud in 5, 10, or 15 upcoming years.”

Besides, Jokowi also gave a message to the players regarding their future. Moreover, Jokowi also gave the bonus to them.

“When you have plenty of revenue, save it for the future. No need to change your lifestyle, stay humble, work hard. If there’s more revenue, save it,” Jokowi concluded.
