Kepa’s Career Threatened As Chelsea Started Targeting Neuer

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Chelsea are reportedly interested in recruiting Manuel Neuer from Bayern Munich. The German goalkeeper was prepared as a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga who appeared inconsistent.

The goalkeeper role at Chelsea is often troubled this season. Kepa’s performance in the goal area was rated inconsistent, with a record of 32 goals conceded in 25 appearances, as well as being the Premier League goalkeeper with the worst save (55.6%) this season.

In fact, Kepa came to Stamford Bridge in 2018 with the title of the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. He was bought from Athletic Bilbao for 72 million.

As a result of his inconsistent appearance, the 25 years old goalkeeper had also been benched in Chelsea’s last few games. Manager Frank Lampard is reportedly ready to release Kepa in the upcoming season.

Related to Kepa’s successor if he really leaves the Stamford Bridge next season, Chelsea reportedly has targeted other goalkeepers. Reporting from the Daily Mail, Neuer became the target of recruiting the Blues.

The 34 years old goalkeeper reportedly wants to leave Bayern because of disagreements over his contract that will expire in 2021. Neuer wants to extend his contract until 2025, but Die Roten only offered him a contract extension until 2023.

The offer from Bayern was called unsatisfactory for Neuer. In fact, the German national team goalkeeper still wants to continue playing until a longer time.

Neuer’s own performance throughout the season was quite okay with Bayern. Although he has conceded 26 times from 25 matches in the Bundesliga, but he was able to record 10 clean sheets.
