By db-admin

DBasia.news – Liverpool officially signed Olympiacos defender, Kostas Tsimikas on a long-term contract. The purchase of the Greek player is the Reds’ first purchase in the summer transfer market.

The 24-year-old left-back has made 46 appearances for Olympiacos in all competitions last season when they won the Greek league for the 45th time.

Financial details of the contract were not provided but British media have said Liverpool paid 11 million pounds (210 million Rupiah) for the player who has played for Greece three times since making his debut in October 2018.

“I am very happy, I am proud to be here. For me, this is the biggest club in the world. It is an honor to be here and I will give my best,” Tsmikas told the club website.

“I really like this league. I watch it on television and it has always been one of my dreams since I was a child to come play in this league,”

“With the great work and focus that I give and what the coach (Juergen Klopp) wants, and every day working hard in training, I can be at the highest level.”

“I want to achieve our goals. Win the league again and also win the Champions League,” he concluded.

Tsimikas, who was on loan at Danish club, Esjberg and Dutch club, Willem II, has Champions League experience and is thought to be a back-up to left-back, Andy Robertson.

“We have watched Kostas for a while and are thrilled that he has joined us. What a perfect news before we get back together,” stated Klopp.

“He’s a great footballer with a winning and competitive attitude, and I really like his mentality,” he concluded.
