Liverpool defeated by Arsenal

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Jurgen Klopp accused Mikel Arteta of influencing referee Michael Oliver’s decision in Liverpool’s defeat to Arsenal.

Most recently, Liverpool suffered their second defeat of the season in the English Premier League after being subdued by Arsenal 3-2 in the tenth week at the Emirates Stadium, Sunday (9/10).

Klopp regretted Oliver’s decision to award Arsenal a penalty only because of Thiago Alcantara’s “touch” on Gabriel Jesus in the penalty box.

Bukayo Saka successfully converted the penalty in the 78th minute while sealing the Gunners’ victory.

“In the first half I don’t know how often and how long Arsenal looked for options on throw-ins, but nothing happened and I have no problem with that,” Klopp said after the game.

“Mikel tried to approach the referee [before Joe Gomez was shown a yellow card in the 71st minute]. Then he [Oliver] says, ‘okay, yellow card’ from a distance and you think, ‘yellow card, just for that?’

“So again, nothing to do with the result, just this one situation, it doesn’t help but you’re right, it was a pointless conversation [with the referee].”

With this result, Liverpool have failed to win in their last three Premier League matches and now the Reds are scattered in tenth place in the standings with a collection of 10 points. Meanwhile, Arsenal returned to the top of the standings with 24 points.
