Liverpool defeated by Arsenal, Klopp was dissatisfied with the performance of the attack line

DBasia.news – Liverpool manager, Juergen Klopp admitted that he was dissatisfied with his attack line, after losing on penalties to Arsenal in the 2020/21 Community Shield event. What left him dissatisfied was the performance in the final third of the pitch.

In a match that took place at Wembley Stadium, Saturday (29/8), Liverpool were defeated by a shootout with a score of 4-5. In normal time, the two teams drew 1-1 after a goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was replied to by Takumi Minamino.

According to Klopp, Liverpool should not have needed to go on penalties if the front lines were more effective in front of the opponent’s goal. Mohamed Salah and his colleagues created more golden opportunities than Arsenal.

“When you play against a (defensive) formation like this you have to be in fresh shape in the final third.” You sometimes want to push it, make triangles, crosses, pass back and all these kinds of things, ” Klopp said to BT Sport.

“The rhythm for that declined a little (in this game). We couldn’t create the opportunities we wanted.”

After falling behind since the 12th minute, Liverpool did immediately dominate possession. They attacked Arsenal’s defense, who chose to appear defensively and relied on counter attacks to secure superiority.

“In the end we created enough moments but we should have created more. When you don’t finish it it’s not enough,” he added.

This defeat is certainly a danger signal for Liverpool who wanted to maintain their dominance in the Premier League. Every opposing team will almost certainly apply the same strategy as Arsenal to reduce the sharpness of the Reds.
