DBasia.news – Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo never met him to talk about the intention to leave. However, Lopetegui is still optimists with El Real’s current squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus in the 2018 summer transfer market. La Vecchia Signora spent 105 million euro to recruit the 33-year-old player.
Before Ronaldo left, Madrid officially appointed Julen Lopetegui as the successor of Zinedine Zidane in the coaching seat. However, CR7 didn’t discuss the problem with the new coach before deciding to leave.
“I did not speak to him, it was a situation where he had already decided to leave and the club went along with this for a player who had been tremendous,” Lopetegui said reported by Marca.
Real Madrid changed their habit in the transfer market. This time, Los Galacticos were no longer doing the huge spending for new players. Madrid’s most expensive player was Vinicius Junior worth £40M.
“I expressed from the start (the players I wanted). I thought the squad was fantastic, the players are very good in all areas of the pitch and capable to compete for titles,” the coach explained.
Though losing Ronaldo as the main predator last season, Real Madrid didn’t show any derivation of their performance. Until the third week, Luka Modric and friends always scored three points.
