Lopetegui: Modric Stays in Real Madrid

By news-admin

DBasia.news – Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui claimed Luka Modric won’t go anywhere. Lopetegui believed Los Blancos still need the power of Croatia national team midfielder.

Luka Modric seems couldn’t stand playing for Madrid. The former Tottenham Hotspur player was rumored interested to the offer from Inter Milan.

Some Italian media reported Modric will soon meet Florentino Perez to state his intention to leave Santiago Bernabeu.

Lopetegui denied the issue. The former coach of Spain national team said that he had talked to Modric.

“The president addressed the rumors very clearly and I have nothing else to say about it. Modric is an extraordinary player and we are waiting for him with open arms,” Lopetegui emphasized quoted by FourFourTwo.

“I talked to him after the excellent World Cup he played and we just have to wait for him and start working after August 8th to see if he can be ready for the Super Cup Final.”

If Modric left, Real Madrid will have a big gap in the center line. Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo has left to Juventus.

“Luka is a player that I am passionate about and I love. I think he’ll be pleased with what he’s going to get from me. He will be happy playing football at Real Madrid,” Lopetegui added.

“Luka is a Real Madrid player and I have no doubt that he will stay here. We have enjoyed it and we will continue enjoying it without any doubt,” Lopetegui said.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid gained a positive result after defeating Juventus 3-1 in the International Champions Cup match in FedExField, Sunday (5/8). Gareth Bale (39′) and Marco Asensio (47′, 56′) scored the goals for El Real. While Bianconeri’s only goal was the own goal of Dani Carvajal on 12′.
