Manchester City Admits Difficult to Chase Liverpool

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach, revealed it was difficult to catch up to Liverpool, who until now, has not been beaten. Guardiola revealed that Liverpool was increasingly left behind by their opponents.

City, the defending champions of the English League, are now 16 points behind Liverpool – who have a game in hand – and Guardiola admitted his team would not be able to stop Juergen Klopp’s team who had recorded the best performance in the history of the English League this time.

“We cannot deny that Liverpool is exceptional in their games and results,” Guardiola told reporters.

“Every day I spend almost 24 hours thinking about what we do and what we can do better so that I don’t get distracted by other teams and leagues.

“(Our target is) to finish second, improve every day and win another competition with the knockout system. There is always something interesting to keep going and improving.

“You can’t play a good game in a knockout competition if you don’t go well in the Premier League. It’s not that you are good one day and bad in another. You have to maintain your standards.”

City travel to Sheffield United on Tuesday, but Guardiola confirmed that they would not be defended by defender John Stones and Benjamin Mendy.

“John has a problem during his last appearance (in Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace which ended 2-2),” Guardiola added.” Mendy is tired of the muscles and the others are fine.”

The Spaniard also commented on defender John Stones, who performed poorly against Palace and was criticized for his role when City conceded two goals.

“That’s not fair,” Guardiola said of the criticism. “You have ups and downs in your career … We know the quality,” he said.
