Manchester City Appeal Result Will Be Announced Next Week

DBasia.news – Manchester City will immediately get an answer from the appeal of the sentence handed down by UEFA to them. The results will be announced next Monday.

As is known, in February the highest European football authority banned City from appearing in European club competition for 2 years, starting next season.

This is after they are accused of manipulating income reports from sponsors in order to outsmart the Financial Fair Play rules, so they can buy players at prices beyond the limit.

City did not accept the sentence and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The appeal hearing was held last month. Express reported, CAS will announce the results on Monday (07/13/2020) at 9.30 AM local time.

If the appeal is accepted, then City will be able to appear again in the Champions League next season. Their position in the Premier League standings at this time is almost certainly not be displaced from the top four.

But if the appeal is rejected, then their position will be replaced by the team that occupies the fifth position of the final standings. Currently, the position is occupied by Manchester United, but clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield United, and Arsenal are still mathematically likely.

City are optimistic their appeal will be accepted, as revealed by their manager, Pep Guardiola.

“Next Monday we will know the results. I am confident (the appeal will be accepted), because I know, I’m here and I know the club’s argument about it,” Guardiola said, Friday (10/7)

“We are going to the Champions League next season but we have to wait. After (the decision is announced), I will give my opinion and the club will give a statement,” he explained.
