Manchester City Considered Unconfident, Pep Guardiola Gives his Response
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Coach Pep Guardiola insists that being left behind by 11 points from Liverpool does not make Manchester City players feel less confident. Pep was sure his team could still pursue the difference in points.
City were held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United at the weekend, which leaves them 11 points clear of Liverpool, led by Jurgen Klopp, who was firmly on top after 14 matches.
Pep’s troops have only drawn twice at the championship this season, but he has rejected suggestions that his squad has lost confidence ahead of a trip to Burnley headquarters in midweek.
“I think you have to see how the players (me) run, how they struggle, how they try, their body movements,” Pep said.
“We will not attack. This team is always there. That is what I feel. You analyze the results, 2-2. Of course, that’s not good for us. That’s good for Newcastle.
“I know this doesn’t count but I have to analyze the performance and (our) good performance.”
Despite falling behind Liverpool, the Spaniard hopes to keep his title. “I’m not thinking about how many matches we have to win, we have to try to win the next one.
“Last season when we were here, we didn’t talk about the Premier League and how many matches you had to win.
“This is
not a matter of that. Now the important thing is to recover, get ready and try
to win against Burnley. After that the derby match (against Manchester United)
and head up. “
