Manchester City in Crisis of Central Defenders
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Not finished with Aymeric Laporte’s injury, Manchester City has continued to be in crisis for a central defender with the injury of England defender John Stones.
The 25-year-old defender was injured when he was training in Ukraine during the Champions League group match against Shakhtar Donetsk. Stones muscle injury, according to the official website of City, requires recovery time for four to five weeks (one more month).
While Laporte is injured until January or February. As a result, City currently only has Nicolas Otamendi as the only center back who is fit to play. Conditions that are not ideal, of course, for Pep Guardiola, manager of Man City.
Nevertheless, Guardiola was actually challenged by an injury test that has hit his central defenders.
“For me as a manager, this (hurricane injury) is a really great challenge. However, I believe in something that is unknown to people – enthusiasm and commitment. We will step forward to get through this problem,” Guardiola said to BBC Sport.
Plus the departure of a former captain and formidable defender, Vincent Kompany, Guardiola did have to find a solution to overcome the crisis of Manchester City central defenders.
At the moment, Man City are five points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool. Plus the tight schedule of matches, Guardiola was able to play young defenders like Eric Garcia.
