By db-admin
DBasia.news – Pep Guardiola thanked match officials following Manchester City’s defeat against Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday (11/11). Not only that, but Guardiola also expressed his emotions on the sidelines after Trent Alexander-Arnold touched the ball with his hand in the second half.
In the Liverpool v Manchester City match, Trent Alexander-Arnold did touch the ball twice with his hand. The first incident occurred at the beginning of the match and led to the home team’s first goal through Fabinho’s hard kick. The second incident occurred midway through the second half when Manchester City were left behind.
When he saw the second incident, Pep Guardiola could not hold his emotions. He immediately walked towards the backup referee while shouting “twice! twice!” He was immediately pulled towards the Manchester City bench by his assistant, Mikel Arteta.
Shortly after the match was over, the Premier League immediately issued an official statement related to the incident involving Alexander-Arnold. In their eyes, Alexander-Arnold did not touch the ball intentionally.
“VAR has checked Manchester City’s penalty request after the ball hit Alexander-Arnold’s hand and made sure the referee had made the right decision because he had no intention of touching the ball with his hand.”
The defeat of Liverpool makes Manchester City must go down to the fourth position in the Premier League standings. At present, they have left behind by nine points from Liverpool who occupy the top position.
