Mario Balotelli, A “Lack of Intelligence” Player

Roberto Mancini

DBasia.news – Roberto Mancini had his debut in the competitive match of the Italy national team with a minor result. Gli Azzurri just played draw 1-1 against Poland in the UEFA Nations League.

Some Italian players were performing under expectation. Just like Mario Balotelli. Statistically, he just touched the ball 10 times in the first round. At 61′, the Nice striker was replaced by Andrea Belotti due to exhaustion.

Italy legendary coach, Arrigo Sacchi raised his voice regarding Balotelli’s poor performance. He assumed the performance of the 28-year-old player in the match against Poland showed that he was lack of intelligence.

“When Balotelli wanders around by himself and doesn’t even attempt to stick to the plan, what are you supposed to say to him?” said Sacchi.

Furthermore, Sacchi suggested Mancini transform Italy to be a competitive team. He revealed that football is a collective sport. Consequently, the team needs the strategy clearly.

“Football is a collective sport and intelligence matters more than the feet. So first I would choose players who have intelligence.”

“We need generosity, passion, professionalism. Everyone has a car, but to get it moving, you need petrol. And in football, petrol is intelligence, passion, professionalism,” Sacchi revealed.
