Mauro Icardi Adds Strength to PSG’s Front Line

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Mauro Icardi left from Inter Milan to PSG (Paris Saint-Germain). The Argentine striker is on loan with a permanent purchase option of 69 million euros.

Inter had already given him a new contract for two years. Icardi will be the spearhead of the new front line of PSG which already had great strength. His presence can add to the play options for Thomas Tuchel.

“I will give my all to help my new team go as far as possible in all competitions. Paris St-Germain has become an international football force, attracting some of the greatest players in recent years,” Icardi stated on PSG’s official website.

“The momentum is strong in Paris, the ambitions are high, and I’m sure we have everything here to develop further,” he continued.

The German manager has a lot of variety and luxury in the squad to be played in the attack line. At present, Icardi, 26, will be counted on to replace Edinson Cavani who is injured.

But if Cavani recovers, Icardi can duet with the former Napoli striker in a 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2 or 3-5-2 tactic. That’s just talking about Cavani, not to mention the existence of Angel Di Maria, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar.

All three possess great technical quality, high scoring instincts, and is able play on the flanks. The role of Di Maria, Mbappe and Neymar on the flanks is not just a ‘servant’ for Cavani or Icardi, but also a solution to score goals in difficult moments.

During his six years playing for Inter, Icardi was the opposing goal predator with 124 goals from 219 appearances. The former Inter captain left following the desires of club leaders, plus Antonio Conte, who saw it as a surplus.

Apart from the drama that often arises regarding Icardi with his agent and his wife, Wanda Nara, the former Sampdoria striker has high technical ability and instinct to score. Tuchel just needs to find the best tactics to maximize the front lines of death he has. The death quartet can be played simultaneously: Mbappe, Neymar, Cavani, and Icardi. If needed, there are still Pablo Sarabia, Di Maria, Julian Draxler, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
