Memphis Depay admits there is an opportunity to join Barcelona

DBasia.news – Olympique Lyonnais winger, Memphis Depay, revealed a potential transfer to Barcelona this summer. Depay admitted there was an opportunity for him to head to join Ronald Koeman at Barca.
Koeman, who is actually his former coach in the Dutch national team, wants to recruit Depay from Lyon for 25 million euros. That value could have been even lower if Samuel Umtiti left for Lyon as Rudi Garcia’s team was interested in the former player.
Depay confirmed Barcelona’s interest. However, the former PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United player cannot determine this at this time. He will discuss it first with his agent and Lyon.
“We will wait and see what happens. I’ll speak with Lyon tomorrow. I know there is interest (from Barça) but I can’t say more than that. Especially since I haven’t spoken to my agent,” Koeman told Sport-English.
Depay (26 years old) plays as a wing striker. His best position is there but at Lyon, Depay was played by Rudi Garcia as the second striker behind the lone striker. Koeman already knew him from the national team.
His existence will strengthen Barca’s front line which already has Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, and Martin Braithwaite.
Apart from targeting Depay, Koeman also wants Georginio Wijnaldum in the Barcelona squad. Wijnaldum is currently defending Liverpool and reportedly has no objection in being sold at the right price, as Liverpool needed additional funds to recruit Thiago Alcantara.
