Mikel Arteta Said Arsenal Did Make Mistakes in the Match against Manchester City
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal just lost to Manchester City with a score of 0-1 in the Premier League continued on Sunday (21/2). The manager, Mikel Arteta, admitted that the Gunners made a mistake in this match.
The Citizens won thanks to a goal scored by Raheem Sterling after just two minutes. This goal at the same time brought City to its 18th consecutive win.
Arteta admitted that he had prepared tactics to withstand the attacks given by Pep Guardiola’s team. However, he felt that his players could not read the opponent’s game in that match.
This resulted in Sterling being able to score goals with a header by taking advantage of his taller posture than Arsenal defenders. After the goal Arteta realized the situation was becoming difficult and put City in control of the match.
“We didn’t do it in the first 10 minutes. It was a cross and Raheem Sterling couldn’t head the ball there. You can’t concede that goal. It’s a tactical thing that we are preparing for but we don’t read about it in the game.”
“When we conceded the first goal, it put us in a difficult situation. It was difficult,” added the 38-year-old manager.
“With the formation and the players they use, they are really comfortable. After that the team reacted very well, were on top of the game and created chances but we lacked the quality in that situation to score,” he concluded.
