Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs: Football Should Unite the Nation

DBasia.news – Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Imam Nahrawi condemns the incident at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium that caused the death of Haringga Sirla, a supporter of Persija Jakarta. Imam emphasized that the incident was barbaric.

“Football and sport should unite the nation, also the entertainment and place to find achievements. It’s not a war or riot,” Menpora said.

“Football should be happy, together, unity for everyone. Regardless of the age, origin, everyone has to be together.”

“Sport is not the place to tell hatred, moreover the rivalry between one another. There are too many victims, both physical or life. We are civilized, have moral, attitude, and helping others. The previous incident was barbaric and unacceptable,” he continued.

He thinks, what the suspects did, especially those below 20, was horrible.

“There must be a role, especially a supporter conductor, supporter leader, club leader, federation, also government and everyone. The government should appreciate the quick response from the police, until the determination of the suspect recently.”
