Mourinho Feels Natural That Dele Alli Is Not Happy

DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur won the victory over Royal Antwerp in the last Group J match of the 2020-2021 Europa League. Jose Mourinho’s squad won 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Friday (11/12/2020).
In that match, Alli only occupied the bench throughout the match. Even the 24-year-old went into the locker room, after Mourinho used up all the substitution slots. Although then Alli looks back on the bench. There was a look of disappointment on his face.
Regarding this situation the Tottenham manager Mourinho admits that not all players are happy under him. Besides Alli, the player who looks disappointed is Harry Winks. The young England midfielder looked disappointed when he was pulled off in the 59th minute and replaced by Tanguy Ndombele. Winks also chose to go directly to the changing room.
“My job is impossible to make all the players happy,” Mourinho said as quoted by BBC Sports. “A player who is on the bench and seeing his replacement rations run out will not be happy. I also don’t wish them to be happy.”
Winks and Alli were key players in the Mauricio Pochettino era. But since Mourinho’s arrival the two players have started to lose their main place. Alli has only played twice in the Premier League this season. Meanwhile, Winks has just performed on four occasions.
Regarding Winks who did not choose to return to the bench but chose to go straight into the dressing room, Mourinho has an explanation.
“I told him to. I told every player who was substituted to leave because it was cold. I prefer them to go to the locker room and take a shower,” he said.
“I told them to go, some players prefer to stay. Winks decided to go and I’m happy with that because I told him to.”
