Napoli Threatened Left by Some of Their Star Players

By db-admin

DBasia.news – JGennaro Gattuso managed to get his first title as Napoli manager through the Coppa Italia. The final match that took place at the Stadio Olimpico against Juventus on Thursday (6/18), won by Napoli through penalty shootout (4-2) after a goalless 90 minutes.

It becomes the sixth Coppa Italia title of Napoli after they last won it in 2014. While Maurizio Sarri failed to win his first title in Italy despite managing a club like Juventus.

Nevertheless the oblique news attacked Napoli because they reportedly are also affected by the corona virus pandemic. The impact was felt on the financial condition of Napoli so that they have no other choice if their mainstay players get interested to other clubs.

Players such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Fabian Ruiz, Lorenzo Insigne, Arkadiusz Milik, and Piotr Zielinski are being demanded by many European clubs. Gattuso also surrender if they left with a prediction of only 70-80 percent left of his squad will stay for next season.

“We don’t need to operate too much in the transfer market. We have to see who will leave the team. Our president (Aurelio De Laurentiis) knows that – we talk about it every week,” Gattuso said as quoted by Goal.

“This is a strong team but I think only 70-80 of the players will stay with us. We will make several transfers but I know this team has (already) great quality,” he explained.

That means Napoli will only recruit new players if there is a sale of players at the right price. Despite the discussions about the squad, Gattuso – who replaced Carlo Ancelotti – six months ago revealed the recipe for Napoli’s success in winning the Coppa Italia.

“It was a big win. I am 42 years old, this is my fourth final as a coach – I played 15 times when I was a player, so it’s 19 now in my career,” added Gattuso.

“When you start, coaching is totally different. I have many responsibilities on my shoulders. Sometimes I act like I’m the chairman, or the doctor, or the shopkeeper, and it’s hard when you live football like me.”

“But that is the only way for me to live. That is why I feel we won this trophy as if I myself played it.”

“I know where we started and how I pushed my players and the people who work for the club. We deserve it,” concluded Gattuso.
