DBasia.news – Napoli are threatened to lose theit captain, Lorenzo Insigne ahead of the trip to Barcelona to carry out the Champions League second leg on Saturday (8/8).

As the winger was confirmed to have suffred a left thigh tendon injury and bruised bones in the last week’s Serie A match against Lazio last weekend.

“Lorenzo Insigne has undergone an examination that confirms that he has a wound in the tendon of his left thigh muscle as well as bone contamination,” the Napoli official website announced on Tuesday (4/8).

“Insigne will be closely monitored for the development of his condition over the next few days,” the same statement said.

Nevertheless, Napoli’s statement did not confirm the chances of Insigne participating with the group who left for Barcelona.

Insigne limped off the pitch in the final minutes of the match against Lazio, which Napoli won 3-1 and the Italian contributed one goal through a penalty.

If Insigne is absent, it will be a big loss for the team coached by Gennaro Gattuso who will try to get past Barcelona with a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

This season Insigne has contributed 12 goals and eight assists for Napoli in all competitions.

Napoli finished seventh in Serie A, but have already booked a Europa League group phase ticket next season thanks to their success in winning the Coppa Italia.
