Not Accepting the Decision of the French League Agency, Olympique Lyon Ready to Take Legal actions
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Olympique Lyon apparently did not respond to the decision of the French League Agency (LFP) related to the termination of all competitions in 2019-20 with grace. They felt disappointed and are ready to take legal actions to demand justice.
As is known, LFP has already determined the fate of the French League this season. In its decision, LFP has officially stopped the Ligue 1 competition and determined the final standings based on the average points earned by all participating teams.
The decision has made Lyon settle for finishing in seventh position of the standings. This made Moussa Dembele and colleagues certainly will not participate in European competition for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
“Regarding the decision that has been taken by Ligue 1, Olympique Lyon has the right to appeal and claim damages,” wrote a statement by Les Gones which was published on the club’s official website.
“The loss in question is a loss of opportunity and given the case law of other professional sports currently underway, losses at the club amount to several tens of millions of Euros,” the statement continued.
Even so, Lyon still congratulates Paris Saint-Germain, who was declared the French League champion. Les Gones also hopes the Lyon women’s team will also be declared champions in the near future.
“Olympique Lyon sincerely wishes to congratulate PSG on being named Ligue 1 champions and Lorient as Ligue 2 winners. We hope OL Feminine will receive similar treatment.”
