Not Included in Ronald Koeman’s Plan, Luis Suarez Potentially Leaving for PSG or MLS
By db-admin
DBasia.news – FC Barcelona made an overhaul in their squad for the 2020-2021 season. Massive changes will be made under Ronald Koeman after Barca were beaten 2-8 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Some time ago Josep Maria Bartomeu, President of Barcelona has clearly confirmed several players who are safe from the player garage sale are: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong, Lionel Messi, Clement Lenglet, Gerard Pique, Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, and Nelson Semedo. That means the other names need to prove themselves to Koeman.
Luis Suarez, who has been with Barca since 2014 and is one of the club’s all-time top scorers, is not on the safe list. Given that he is 33 years old, El Pistolero has the opportunity to leave this summer.
Moreover, according to Catalan Radio, RAC1 Koeman reportedly contacted Suarez on Monday (24/08) local time to inform him that the former Ajax Amsterdam and Liverpool striker was not included in his plan.
Suarez’s contract lasts until 2021 but has the third highest salary in Barcelona with an annual income of 24 million euros. Taking him off could reduce those expenses for the club and recruit younger attackers.
However, Barca cannot just let it go because Suarez is Lionel Messi’s friend on and off the playing field. Especially recently Suarez has firmly said that someone must dare to tell him directly from the club if he is no longer wanted at Barca.
“There was talk about some names that the president gave, about changes that could be made. But nobody told me they wanted to do it without me,” Suarez said.
“If this is the wish of the club, it would be great if the person in charge said it directly to me. Better to tell me if I am one of the people they want out.”
PSG or MLS
According to additional news from Sport-English, Suarez’s situation is a concern for PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) and the MLS (Major League Soccer) clubs. Both are ready to accommodate the Uruguay striker.
PSG are left behind by Edinson Cavani and Suarez could be a substitute for their compatriot to play with Kylian Mbappe and his former Barcelona teammate, Neymar.
Meanwhile, interest from MLS came from David Beckham’s club, Inter Miami. After bringing in Blaise Matuidi from Juventus Inter Miami still needs a European star. Luis Suarez, who has scored 198 goals and provided 109 assists from 283 matches, Barcelona has this profile.
