DBasia.news – Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is glad that his team can ‘forget’ the Champions League competition for a while.

Manchester City have just managed to secure a ticket to the 16th phase of the Champions League after the match against FC Porto, Wednesday (02/12) am. Even though the match ended in a draw, an additional point for City was enough to take him to win Group C.

After the match, Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola said he was thrilled with his team’s performance in the Champions League because they managed to occupy the top of the group. Not wanting to be too complacent about this achievement, Guardiola asked his team to focus on the Premier League.

“Congratulations to the team who have confirmed themselves through the group stage,” said Guardiola as quoted from the official Man City website.

“We still have one game left, nothing to fight for in that match. We just made it to keep the rhythm. Now it’s time to forget about the Champions League and focus on the Premier League.” He added.

Against Porto at Estadio Do Dragao, Porto’s headquarters, Man City did not score and ended the match 0-0. One point is enough for City to secure the top of the standings with 13 points, followed by Porto (10 points), and Olympiacos and Marseille who have won three points.
