Pirlo Admits Juventus Still Have Weaknesses against Genoa
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Juventus started well against Genoa, but let their guard down and risked losing their lead. Juve coach Andrea Pirlo admits there are a number of shortcomings.
Juventus won 3-1 at home to Genoa on Sunday (11/4/2021) in the Italian League continued. The Bianconeri took the lead through Dejan Kulusevski in the fourth minute, which Alvaro Morata doubled in the 22nd minute.
But then Juve nearly missed at the end of the first half. Gianluca Scamacca got a chance from close range, which Wojciech Szczesny could still beat.
Genoa in the process actually scored early in the second half through Scamacca. However Juventus reacted positively and widened the gap again through Weston McKennie in the 70th minute.
Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo admitted that the period at the beginning and end of each round is a critical phase for his team. In this match, he said his players were off guard.
“We had the right attitude at the start of the match, everything looked easy, then we let the opponent get a chance at the end of the first half due to decreased concentration,” he told Sky Sport Italia as quoted by Football Italia.
“It happened before that we conceded at the beginning or at the end of the half and it almost happened again. We came into the game determined to take the initiative, but played too deep, took some risks, and didn’t maximize the chances that could have made us more relaxed,” added Pirlo.
