Qualifying for Europa League Final, Diego Godin Becomes the Talisman of Inter Milan to Balance Sevilla

DBasia.news – Qualifying for the 2019-2020 season Europa League Final with Inter Milan is a special success for the Uruguayan defender, Diego Godin. Godin managed to appear in the top matches of European competition every two seasons.

Inter managed to defeat Shakhtar Donetsk with a score of 5-0 in the semifinal match which was held at Espirit Arena, Tuesday (18/8). The five Nerazzurri winning goals were scored by Lautaro Martinez (19’and 74′), Danilo D’Ambrosio (64′) and Romelu Lukaku (78′, 84′).

Even though he didn’t score a goal, Godin’s role was central in Inter’s victory. He helped to keep Samir Handanovic’s clean sheet until the match was over.

The 2019-2020 Europa League final is Godin’s fifth European competition summit in nine seasons. This makes him worthy of being considered a talisman for a club to excel in Europe.

Godin’s routine to appear in the final of European competitions starts in the 2011-2012 season. At that time he was able to present the Europa League trophy for Atletico Madrid.

Two seasons later, Godin brought Atletico to the Champions League final. Unfortunately, Los Rojiblancos’ move to win the title was thwarted by their city rival, Real Madrid.

Godin took Atletico back to the Champions League final two seasons later and faced the same opponent. But again Real Madrid became their tackle to dominate Europe.

In the 2017-2018 season, Godin again appeared in the final of European competition with Atletico despite dropping the class to the Europa League. But he managed to present the title.

That fact can be a good dress up for Inter. Godin has always appeared as champion in the previous two Europa League finals.

Godin’s trend can be Inter’s weapon in the final match. As is known, Antonio Conte’s team will challenge Sevilla, which has a strong tradition in the Europa League.

Sevilla have never lost on five previous occasions to appear in the Europa League final. This record might be broken by Inter who have no less powerful talisman in Godin.
