Raphael Varane: Madrid’s Quality Declines
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Real Madrid defender, Raphael Varane, admitted he was disappointed with the defeat of his team from Real Betis. According to him, Los Blancos played poorly at the opponent’s headquarters.
Madrid was surprisingly defeated at home to Betis. Los Blancos toppled 1-2 in the continued La Liga match at Benito Villamarin, Monday (03/09/2020) AM.
Betis took the lead through Sidnei before being equalized by Karim Benzema’s penalty. Betis’ winning goal was thanks to Cristian Tello in the last ten minutes of the match.
“We lacked intensity, especially in the first round. We didn’t play at the speed we wanted and we let the opponent take control of the ball. “We lost important points, but we believe we can fight until the end of the season,” Raphael Varane said at Soccerway.
“We are trying very hard to get back to the top and today is a decrease in everyone’s quality. We still have a lot of games left to play and we’re sure we will get that intensity back, “Raphael Varane added. As a result of this defeat, Madrid failed to reclaim the top of the Spanish league standings from the hands of Barcelona. The Blaugrana, who the day before won 1-0 at Real Sociedad, now lead with 58 points and are two points ahead of Madrid. Betis are now in 12th position with 33 points.
