Rarely Play, Ozil’s Future at Arsenal Is Unclear

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Mesut Ozil’s future with Arsenal is increasingly uncertain after he’s rarely being played in the Premiere League competition in 2019-2020.

The Gunners manager, Mikel Arteta was reluctant to discuss the fate of the 31-year-old player in public. Arteta reasoned that he did not play Ozil in his first match against Manchester City for tactical reasons.

Arteta also revealed that Ozil did not appear in subsequent matches because of a back injury. Ozil since the beginning of this season appeared far below the standard. At the beginning of this season, the former Real Madrid player was rarely played by The Gunners coach at the time, Unai Emery.

In addition to his performance that was not improving, Ozil’s mentality had also been shaken because he almost became a victim of robbery in central London.

When the position of coach was taken over by Mikel Arteta in December 2019, Ozil’s situation and performance improved. However, since the end of December 2019 until mid-2020, Ozil only recorded 12 appearances for the Gunners.

As is known, Ozil is the highest paid player at Arsenal with a salary of 350,000 pounds per week and his contract has only one year left.

It’s no secret that Arsenal want to save money by reducing Ozil’s big salary or selling him to other clubs.

The World Cup champion has been linked with transfers to Turkish and United States clubs in the recent weeks, although he has reportedly rejected offers from Turkish club Fenerbahce.

Ozil only appeared 23 times in all competitions for The Gunners this season and only scored once.

According to Sky Sports reports on Tuesday, Arteta will no longer involve Ozil in the remaining matches of the season. The Spaniard has two other players who will fill his position, Dani Ceballos and Joe Willock.

Arsenal are scheduled to compete in the 2019-2020 FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday (1/8).
