Robert Lewandowski has the opportunity to overtake Cristiano Ronaldo’s record in the Champions League

By db-admin

DBasia.news – This season is the best season of Robert Lewandowski’s career. The Bayern Munich attacker has the opportunity to win the treble winners after winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal trophies. Besides that, Lewandowski’s personal side is equally good.

The 31-year-old player has scored a total of 53 goals, providing eight assists in a total of 44 matches in all competitions. Lewandowski scored 13 goals in the Champions League. If he scores five more goals a new record will be created.

According to reports from Marca, Robert Lewandowski could break the record for Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo on the record for most goals scored in a Champions League season. Ronaldo scored 17 goals in the 2013-14 season with Real Madrid.

No doubt if Lewandowski scores five more goals in the remaining Champions League matches then he will surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s record. That’s a record Lewandowski can break so far after losing to Lazio striker, Ciro Immobile who won the European Golden Boot award.

Immobile scored 36 goals in Serie A and Lewandowski 34 goals, but Lewandowski has a better goal ratio than Immobile at 1.09 goals per game while Immobile has 0.97 goals. Meanwhile in Europe Lewandowski has recorded 1.85 goals per game this season.

There are still three games remaining if Bayern Munich continues to advance to the final. Without rules for home-away games in the quarter-finals and semifinals due to the corona virus pandemic, scoring five goals in Europe is not an easy matter for Lewandowski.

Bayern Munich will play against the champions’ favorites, Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final which will take place at the Estadio da Luz, Portugal, Saturday (15/08) 02.00 WIB. Lewandowski is currently one goal adrift of Lionel Messi, who scored 14 goals in the 2011-12 season.
