Salary cuts became the way for Philippe Coutinho to persuade Bayern Munich to maintain him

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Philippe Coutinho still hopes to defend Bayern Munich. In fact, he is willing to cut half his salary so that his desire can be achieved in the rest of this season.

As is known, Coutinho’s loan spell with Munich ended on June 30. The German giants are reluctant to keep him from Barcelona.

But the corona virus pandemic effect forced a number of competition schedules to stretch. Although the Bundesliga has been completed, Munich will still compete in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the DFB Pokal final.

This is what made Coutinho want to stay longer in Munich. Reporting from Marca, he accepted an offer of a 50 percent salary cut to remain part of Hansi Flick’s team.

The same fate was shared by two of his team-mates, Alvaro Odriozola and Ivan Perisic. Both are also on loan from Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

Coutinho did fail to impress Munich’s management. He was only able to pack nine goals and eight assists from 33 matches in all competitions.

In addition, the high price is also a consideration for Munich to being reluctant to make him permanent. They instead targeted Leroy Sane, whose value was more affordable to replace Coutinho’s role.

Coutinho certainly must make up for this sacrifice with maximum performance. An impressive appearance will make him have no trouble finding a new club in the upcoming transfer market.
